Nipozzano Vecchie Viti, a new Chianti Rùfina riserva DOCG, is born from the passion and experience of Marchesi Frescobaldi. This wine, historically dedicated to the newest members of the Frescobaldi Family, has its origins in the oldest grapevines – those with the deepest roots – of Castello Nipozzano.
Since the 1970s, the company has been busy replanting the vineyards in Nipozzano with new clones and rootstocks. The last grapevines, around 20 hectares close to Nipozzano’s small cemetery, were producing such high-level results due to a combination of their age and the terroir that it was decided not to replant them. Following a further careful selection of the harvests from these vineyards, Nipozzano Vecchie viti was born to be the limited edition, authentic expression of the Nipozzano terroir. The ageing takes place in large barrels, which are more respectful of the traits developed by these older grapevines and best-suited to exalting their excellence. Noteworthy for its great harmonic complexity, this wine ages for 24 months in oak barrels. Nipozzano Vecchie Viti 2011 is made of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Colorino.
For the very first time in the wine industry, a new wine was presented through a live-streamed conference so users could follow the presentation comfortably from their homes. The event saw the participation of wine bloggers, experts and Lamberto Frescobaldi that introduced the history and tasting notes of Nipozzano Vecchie Viti.
